Zimbardo demostr\u00f3 esta teor\u00eda a trav\u00e9s de un experimento realizado en Nueva York, donde dej\u00f3 dos coches estacionados en diferentes barrios. En uno, el coche fue dejado intencionalmente con una ventana rota, y en el otro no. En pocas horas, el coche con la ventana rota comenz\u00f3 a ser saqueado, y al final fue destruido por completo. El coche sin la ventana rota permaneci\u00f3 intacto, al menos durante algunos d\u00edas.
